The die state (Grellman b) and exceptional level of preservation argue strongly for this lovely upper Gem having once been part of a sizeable hoard of Mint State 1853 N-25 cents. It is an outstanding candidate for inclusion in a top flight top collection, with dominant steely-copper patina that yields to blushes of original faded pinkish-rose mint color around some of the reverse design elements. Sharply defined at the focal features and exceptionally smooth overall.
