- Description du lot
- Choice AU 1843-C Half Eagle. 1843-C Gold $5. Winter 2. AU-58 PCGS. Deep yellow-orange gold with some prooflike reflectivity in the well-protected areas of the design. The luster is bold and the eye appeal is superb for a Charlotte half eagle; this specimen was sharply struck when new. Despite scattered hairlines and marks, this specimen is still far above average in surface appearance for a gold coin of the era. This is the variety with the C mintmark centered directly over the V of FIVE. Downright elusive in AU, especially when not cleaned or noticeably altered. Choice for the grade.
