1 graded MS-67+, 1 higher at NGC. Common as a date, 1898 suddenly becomes extremely rare anywhere above the superb level. Phenomenal luster and deeply saturated obverse colors nearly overflow the eye-appeal bucket, as the obverse boasts intense shades of grape-violet, lapis-lazuli and almond-gold. The reverse yields mostly shades of the latter almond hues and a few dashes of gold. A super sharp strike created peerless details and luster, all of these qualities well preserved by careful long-term storage.
