Losbeschreibung
1872 Liberty Seated Quarter. MS-65 (NGC). Rare as a date and tougher than the mintage of 182,000 might imply as many were believed melted before they were released. The strike is sharp on Liberty's dress folds, curls and the stars, the reverse too is bold on all devices. In fact, the reverse is somewhat prooflike in reflectivity. Toned on the obverse with elegant light gold to rose-russet with blue near the periphery. On the reverse the silver shines bright with a dash of lighter gold at the rims. One of just five so graded by NGC at the Gem level and exceeded by just two more examples seen finer of this date. An historic rarity that is all too often overlooked until years go by and a collector is unable to find a suitable example. NGC Census: 5; 2 finer (MS-67 finest). PCGS# 5481. NGC Census: 5; 2 finer (MS-67 finest).
