This highly desirable variety is ranked No. 28 in the 2017 edition of <em>100 Greatest U.S. Modern Coins</em> by Scott Schechter and Jeff Garrett, which reference reports that only 1,655 Proof Jefferson nickels of this date were struck and released without the mintmark.
