1864 Indian Cent. Bronze. L on Ribbon. MS-66 RB (NGC). An intriguing piece, warm medium tan color blankets both sides and, at quick glance, gives the appearance of a copper-nickel cent. The designer's initial L is plainly evident under magnification, however, so the attribution is accurate. Satiny in finish with a sharp strike and subtle champagne-apricot iridescence discernible with patience. NGC Census: 23; 2 finer in this category (MS-67 RB finest). PCGS# 2080. NGC ID: 227M.
