Lot Description

Sharply struck for this first-year gold dollar from the New Orleans Mint, softness to many of the devices on the reverse is the result of die polishing that attributes the Winter-3 pairing. Other positive attributes include warm honey-orange color and modest, yet appreciable semi-prooflike reflectivity in the fields. Otherwise frosty in texture, wispy handling marks that are more prevalent on the reverse help to explain the BU grade from NGC.
