Lot Description

1859-S Liberty Half Eagle. AU-50 (PCGS). All but unknown in Mint State, the 1859-S (13,220 coins struck) is also a conditionally rare Half Eagle in the various AU grades. Veiled in light pinkish-rose iridescence, the present example reveals bolder underlying color in a khaki-orange hue as the surfaces rotate under a light. Well defined throughout, with no individually mentionable abrasions apart from a shallow scrape in the upper-reverse field.
