1848-O Liberty Eagle. AU-55 (NGC). Lustrous deep yellow gold with lively orange highlights and a hint of prooflike reflectivity at the devices. Evenly worn but only lightly marked to the unaided eye. One of 35,850 pieces struck, a modest mintage considering the output of the Philadelphia for the date (145,484 pieces).
