- 1896 Barber Half Dollar. MS-65 (PCGS).
A handsome and fully original Gem, both sides exhibit mottled steel-russet toning over a base of warmer antique silver patina. The strike is sharp, the luster is full, and the surfaces are uncommonly well preserved in a circulation strike half dollar of the conditionally challenging Barber type. One of the scarcer Philadelphia Mint issues in this series, the 1896 has a limited mintage of 950,000 pieces.
PCGS Population: 16; 5 finer (MS-67 finest).
PCGS# 6474. NGC ID: 24LV.
