- A frosty copper-brown example struck on a flawed planchet. Several voids and drift marks are evident on both sides, the most noticeable at upper left obverse and upper reverse. The strike is somewhat off center to upper left obverse, lower left reverse, with the borders close to or into the design elements in those areas; lower obverse and upper reverse also softly struck. The centers are bold to sharp, however, as are several peripheral areas, and hints of faded mint color engaging a few of the devices further enhances this coin's appeal. Likely from the Bank of New York Hoard, which contained 246 examples of Newman 8-B when inventoried in 1948.
