Lot Description

Impressively smooth for the assigned grade, the surfaces are warmly toned in pewter and steel gray with some semblance of circulated cameo contrast between the fields and devices. The rims are distinct from the peripheral motifs, and some bolder detail remains within the deepest recesses of Liberty's portrait and the eagle. One of the "big three" among key date Barber quarters, the 1913-S has a paltry mintage of 40,000 pieces.
