Lot Description

1859 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-246, Pollock-304. Rarity-7-. Proof-62 BN (NGC). Copper. Reeded edge. James B. Longacre's French Liberty Head, right, date below, legends around. The reverse features Anthony Paquet's Perched Eagle, with perfect ribbon. Satiny deep brown, and uniform save for a couple of olive toning spots on the obverse. Sharp partial wire rims on both sides. Among the moderately scarcer varieties of the diverse 1859 pattern half dollar series and nicer looking in hand than the grade might suggest.
