Lot Description

1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-2, B-2a. Rarity-3. Centered Head, Plain Edge. VF-30 (PCGS). Smooth wear on the high points of the design and the surfaces show a few traces of roughness, typical of early copper. The date is clear and sharp. Although not a rare variety, finding relatively wholesome examples that are certifiable is quite a challenge, with precious few qualifying to be graded today because of numerous problems in the surfaces. Two shallow scratches above the Y of LIBERTY serve to identify this piece.
