Breen Die State V. Dark chocolate-brown surfaces reveal just a trace of microroughness when closely examined under magnification. Scattered marks, while also discernible with the aid of a loupe, are small enough that the surfaces present as pleasingly smooth during in-hand viewing. The borders are smooth at lower right obverse and reverse, but all major design elements remain bold in the presence of moderately heavy wear. A nice VG Sheldon-108 by EAC standards, identifiable for provenance purposes by a shallow obverse rim bruise at 8 o'clock that is well blended into the overall fabric of the coin.
