1869-S Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-101, Die Pair WB-3. Rarity-3. Early Die State. AU-58 (PCGS). Original silver gray surfaces with a sharp strike and ample remaining luster in a satin to softly frosted texture. Writing in the 2009 book <em>A Register of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties, Volume I: San Francisco Branch Mint</em>, Bill Bugert describes the 1869-S as, ""...an under-appreciated, better date in the Liberty Seated half dollar series.""
