1873 Liberty Seated Quarter. No Arrows. Close 3. Briggs 2-B. AU-55 (NGC). An untoned, satin to semi-reflective example that retains sharp striking detail to most features. This is a rare issue, the mintage a scant 40,000 circulation strikes and survivors thought to number no more than two dozen examples. Most coins were undoubtedly destroyed in the Mint after the Act of February 12, 1873 mandated a slight weight increase for the quarter. PCGS# 5484. NGC ID: 23UU.
