Lot Description

1842-C Liberty Quarter Eagle. Winter Variety 1 (3-B), the only known dies. EF-45 (NGC). A rare early Charlotte issue that boasts a meager mintage of 6,729 pieces. Perhaps 100 or so survive in certifiable condition, all but a couple with some degree of circulation. The present coin has attractive yellow-gold color and average surfaces. The strike is decent for this branch mint. Highly collectible and a presentable coin to represent this rare date.
