1721-H French Colonies Sou, or 9 Deniers. La Rochelle Mint. W-11830. VF-20. 78.2 grains. Dark olive brown with good eye appeal and gloss despite fine granularity on both sides. Well centered on the obverse, which shows some ruddy old verdigris around some letters. Reverse aligned to 3 o'clock with a good bit of the legend interrupted by the rim on the right, denticles visible from 7 o'clock to 11 o'clock on the left. Nice central strike, not a bad specimen. Craige called this die pair 10-I. PCGS# 158632. Provenance: From the Ted L. Craige Collection.
