- Description du lot
- 1850-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 23-O. AU-55 (NGC).
Warm honey-gold color throughout, both sides are sharply defined apart from a touch softness to isolated features, most noticeably the central high points. The surfaces exhibit wispy handling marks upon close inspection, but present as uncommonly smooth in hand for a lightly circulated pre-Civil War era Southern gold coin. Elusive in all grades due to extensive circulation, the 1850-D half eagle is typically represented by well worn, and often impaired survivors. In certified Choice About Uncirculated preservation this is one of the finer certified examples obtainable from a mintage of 43,984 pieces.
PCGS# 8245. NGC ID: 25U3.
