1848 Liberty Quarter Eagle. MS-61 (NGC). Scarce in an absolute sense and rare from a condition standpoint, this BU 1848 Quarter Eagle is among the finest-known survivors from a mintage of just 6,500 pieces. Reddish-gold in color, both sides are quite lustrous for the grade with a semi-prooflike finish shining forth nicely at more direct angles. A sharply struck piece with no significant abrasions at the lower reaches of Mint State. This is an underrated issue in all grades that is overshadowed by the high-profile 1848 CAL.
