1873 Two-Cent Piece. Open 3. Proof-63 BN (NGC). OH. Final year of issue for the two-cent series, this particular date logotype of the proof only 1873 is believed to be a restrike, probably made not later than the mid to late 1870s. An otherwise deep-copper example, this glossy specimen does reveal intermingled sandy-brown highlights that are most readily evident over the lower obverse. Fully struck throughout, with flashes of semi brilliance in the fields evident at more direct angles.
