Lot Description

1833 Classic Half Cent. C-1, B-1, the only known dies. Rarity-5. Proof-62 BN (PCGS). OGH. Deep steel brown with lively blue, crimson, and gold highlights. We note a toning spot on the obverse just above Liberty's hair, otherwise no surface events are detected. Obverse die line connects stars 5 and 6; struck from a heavily clashed reverse die. The PCGS website suggests some 30 to 40 Proofs of the date exist. <em>A rarity in any grade.</em>
