Losbeschreibung: Lot 400 1854 N-13 NGC graded MS65 Brown.Frosty light olive and bluish steel brown with generous traces of mint red on the obverse and at least 15% of the reverse showing mint color. No spots or stains. The only notable marks are a tick on the bust above the left side of the 8 and a rim nick at the N in UNITED. E-MDS, die state b early. Faint traces of the earlier die lines at S-OF are visible and the vertical line from a dentil below the right side of the 5 is dull but clear. The hair at the top of the ear is not fully struck thanks to a very shallow low spot that covers the neck, cheek, and ear. Our grade is MS60, CC#8 for the variety in the Grellman census. A variety that is especially difficult to find in mint state. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. NGC population 1; none finer.
