- 1872 Liberty Half Eagle. Proof-55 (NGC). A lightly circulated Proof of the date with bold rose iridescence on frosty orange-gold motifs and reflective fields; the fields display a fair amount of scuffing from its brief time in circulation. <em>Just 30 Proofs of the date were struck, </em>with far fewer than that figure available to today's collecting community, even when modestly circulated specimens such as the present coin are taken into consideration. A nice opportunity to obtain a rarity without breaking the bank.
