Undated (1853-1854) Round 25 Cents. BG-224. Rarity-3. Liberty Head. MS-64 (PCGS). OGH. Satiny medium gold surfaces with subtle reddish-apricot highlights enlivening the peripheries. This variety was listed in Montroville Dickeson's The American Numismatical Manual(Philadelphia, 1859) on page 227 and Plate XVIII, 15 -- an early, contemporary appearance of a California small denomination gold variety in the numismatic literature.
