1877 Trade Dollar. Proof-64 Ultra Cameo (NGC). Untoned apart from subtle pale pink rim highlights, this flashy piece allows full appreciation of exceptionally strong field to device contrast. It is a fully struck, carefully preserved Choice Proof with much to tempt the advanced type or trade dollar date collector. From a mintage of just 510 pieces, survivors of which are scarcer than those of the more highly regarded Proof-only issues of 1878 to 1883. Provenance: From the Pacific Rim Collection.
