Lot Description
Simply put, Mint State Barber half dollars seldom come this well preserved and visually appealing, and irrespective of date or issuing mint. This San Francisco Mint coin exhibits delicate champagne-gold tinting to smooth, brightly lustrous, satin to semi-reflective surfaces. The strike is as close to full as one could realistically expect for a mintmarked example of this design type, and the eye appeal is outstanding.<p>With 1,604,000 examples struck, the final year 1915-S Barber half dollar is readily available in Mint State but remarkably scarce even in Gem MS-65. As a Superb Gem the offered coin is tied for finest certified at PCGS and NGC. It is a phenomenal condition rarity that would do equally well in a top-flight type set or specialized collection of Barber coinage.
