Description du lot
1862 Pattern Eagle. Judd-298, Pollock-357. Rarity-6-. Proof-61 BN (PCGS). OGH--Second Generation. 1865 Pattern Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Judd-430, Pollock-503. Rarity-6+. Proof-64 BN (PCGS). Copper. Reeded Edge. Bronzed. The obverse is the regular dies of the eagle, reverse identical too but for the addition of the tiny letters above the eagle that state GOD OUR TRUST, the first appearance of the experimental Motto brought about by the preacher's letter of 1862. The color is a distinctive and unusual greenish-golden-tan from the bronzing process with a pleasing antique appearance. Scattered tiny nicks from handling, and graded long ago by PCGS. Notably the reverse die was rotated about 20 degrees clockwise when this piece was struck.
