1881 Trade Dollar. Proof-58 (PCGS). Slightly impaired for an example of this proof only trade dollar issue, both sides reveal only minor friction and wispy handling marks to preclude at least a Proof-60 grade. Mostly silver-gray in sheen, bold olive-charcoal outlines to the devices are more extensive on the reverse. An exact strike and modestly reflective fields confirm the coin's proof status although, as previously mentioned, there are no business strike trade dollars of this date.
