Gavin "John" Rose Collection. Newcomb-2 has medium letters on the reverse, and in this case, an arcing die-crack joins the fifth through tenth stars in this die-state. Marvelous honey-golden patina embellishes the entire coin, subdued in areas by delightful wintergreen accents. Strong flowline texture from advanced wear of the dies only amplifies the lustrous effect seen as the coin is motioned under a good lamp. A tiny, isolated corrosion dot above the date and a few trivial linear abrasions on the cheek probably put a cap on upgrade potential.
