1872 Liberty Eagle. AU-50 (NGC). A rare and important issue in all grades, the business strike 1872 Eagle was produced to the extent of just 1,620 pieces. Here we offer an attractive AU survivor that acquired only light wear and relatively few abrasions from a short stint in circulation. More direct angles reveal faint remnants of a semi-prooflike finish, especially on the reverse, and bold-to-sharp definition is readily evident in all areas. With pretty rose-orange color and no individually mentionable detractions, this coin is sure to serve as a highlight in an advanced gold set.
