- 1851 Seated Liberty Dime. MS-64 (PCGS). OGH. Scarce and underrated in Mint State, many 1851 Dimes were probably melted in the Mint through 1855 to provide bullion for the new lightweight silver coinage authorized in 1853. A delightful near-Gem, the present example is awash in thick, billowy, satin-textured luster. Fully impressed throughout, with no mentionable abrasions apart from a wispy graze at the lower-right obverse border that is hardly worth mentioning.
