Lot Description

1848-D Liberty Half Eagle. EF-45 (NGC). A scarce Dahlonega half eagle that often comes with signs of cleaning, or other defects. This example has deep golden toning with surface "dirt" adhering to the devices. A weak strike from a later state of the dies has left stars 3-5 only partially struck up. The reverse has a bisecting die crack. Only a few trivial marks are noted, and are as expected on a coin that saw circulation.
