1886 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-64 (PCGS). Handsome, essentially untoned surfaces exhibit a pronounced cameo effect. One wonders why this one did not get a Cameo rating by PCGS. Field to device contrast is pronounced, especially for the obverse, and the surfaces are expectably smooth at the Choice Proof grade level. A low mintage date of 886 pieces struck in the Proof format, and this example is one of the finer ones noted in the PCGSPopulation Reportand would make a welcome addition to any advanced collection of Liberty Seated half dollars or perhaps even a type set.
