Lot 369 1853 N-21 R3+ PCGS graded XF40.Mostly glossy dark olive brown and steel. Looks smooth but a glass reveals microscopic roughness under the toning. No verdigris and the only notable marks are a few very tiny pinpricks on the cheek. Scarce E-MDS, die state a late, with dull die lines from the dentils at star 2. Our grade is VF35 sharpness net VF25.The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 7 finer: 1 in 45, 1 in 62, 2 in 64, 2 in 65, 1 in 66.
