Lot Description
Undated (1722) Rosa Americana Twopence. Martin 2.1-B.1, W-1322. Rarity-3. With Ribbon. MS-61 (NGC). Boldly struck and nicely centered on the planchet, here is a noteworthy mint state example of this important undated type, probably the first non-pattern Rosa Americana twopence variety struck. The planchets for these range from looking like pure copper to extremely brassy and everything in between, each with their own unique fingerprint. The present coin has a distinctive, mottled mix of deep copper-brown and light brassy-yellow. No marks or roughness catch the eye and the surfaces have a soft glow of glossy luster. Provenance: From the Collection of David N. Kass. Earlier ex our (Stack's) September 1996 sale, lot 1001. PCGS# 92. NGC ID: 2U3Z. Click here for certification details from NGC.
