Richly toned surfaces exhibit blushes of steely-charcoal peripheral color to otherwise dominant olive-gray patina. A couple of tiny nicks along the lower reverse border detract minimally and are more than offset by universally bold VF detail and otherwise smooth-looking surfaces. This is our first offering for a straight-graded example of this scarce die pairing of the 1798 Heraldic Eagle dollar since 2015; in the intervening time we auctioned only one other piece, a PCGS Good Details--Holed in February 2024. Sure to see spirited competition between early dollar variety enthusiasts. BB Die State II.
