1773 Virginia Halfpenny. Newman-Uncertain, W-Uncertain. 7 Harp Strings, No Period After GEORGIVS. VG-8 (PCGS). 111.3 grains. A well-worn olive-brown specimen that not even Ted Craige tried to attribute. The reverse sharpness far exceeds that of the obverse, and careful examination leads us to believe it is Newman's Reverse O. The obverse, however, is soft in detail throughout, especially at the rims where only vestigial shadows of the lettering remains.
