1865 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-61 (NGC). The 1865 $3 rare in any grade. Just 1,165 were struck. The presently offered coin is a nice example at the assigned level, with lovely, pale khaki-gold and champagne toning. A few wispy contact marks are noted on each side. If you specialize in this popular series this Mint State rarity is likely to be more affordable.
