Early Cameo Proof Indian cents are, as a class rare birds indeed. They are always eagerly sought when they appear in auction. Ultra deep MINT RED mirrors shine against the frosty reliefs. The devices are crisply struck and the surfaces are exceptionally clean showing off a beautiful and rich red color that is brilliant and mint fresh. There are stripes of a deeper red hue that cross the obverse, attesting to the originality. Only 625 Proofs were struck. PCGS 8, NGC 4. The most recent example sold in our September 2016 Regency Auction for $4,348. That was more than eight years after the previous non-CAC coin sold. Clearly these do NOT appear with any frequency.
