- 1842 Liberty Half Eagle. Large Letters. EF-45 (PCGS). Lightly worn, yet still boldly defined, both sides also reveal ample evidence of a prooflike finish from the dies. Light scuffiness is commensurate with the grade, and the only individually mentionable distraction is present in the field before Liberty's chin. Scarcer than the 1842 Small Letters, the 1842 Large Letters is an underrated Half Eagle that can be difficult to locate in any grade.
