1872 Shield Nickel. VP-015. Doubled Die Obverse. MS-65 (NGC). Direct lighting calls forth playful iridescent toning in pale champagne-pink and golden-olive. The ring at the top of the shield and several of the leaves near the cross reveal doubling when the obverse is studied with the aid of a loupe. PCGS# 3799. NGC ID: 22P6.
