Brilliant, lustrous, and sharp, with just a few light obverse abrasions keeping this example of a popular die variety from a finer grade; the reverse is certainly finer than its assigned grade suggests. Warm peach-gold iridescence engages the rim on both sides. This popular variety features a noticeable dot after the designer’s initial, M, on the neck at Liberty’s lowest tress; a small dot is seen at the M on the reverse ribbon as well in this interesting variety. The dots are uniformly round and probably placed in the dies for a reason, and various varieties are known with differently sized dots in both places and in combinations of size and location.
