The COVETED key to the short-lived Flying Eagle cent series. This is a handsome coin with LOVELY, even, light tan color throughout. No bagmarks, ticks or discoloration, just honest wear on the high points. The 1856 had a very short production of an estimated 2,000 - 3,000 pieces. Although considered a pattern, it is widely collected as part of a Flying Eagle cent collection as they garnered widespread popularity early on. PCGS 20, NGC 15, CAC 4. No NGC CAC examples have been sold at auction. Non CAC examples have traded in the $8,300 - $8,600 range. A coin that would make a prized addition to any cabinet.
