Description du lot
1892 Columbian Exposition. MS-67 (PCGS). CAC. Exquisite peripheral toning in cobalt blue and reddish-rose iridescence gives way to silvery brilliance in the centers. This half dollar was issued in connection with the World's Columbian Exposition that was staged in Chicago in 1893. The Exposition was original scheduled for 1892, which explains the date on this issue. 950,000 examples were struck and they were widely distributed, with many finding their way into circulation. While most are brilliant or with subtle toning, the stunning color of the offered coin is truly exceptional and fit for the most magnificent set of toned commemoratives or type coins. Provenance: Ex Gregg Bingham Collection. PCGS Population: 40; 15 finer (MS-68 finest). CAC Population: 29; 0. PCGS# 9296. NGC ID: BYGF. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
