Description du lot
1861 Liberty Seated Half Dime. Proof-65 (PCGS). This vividly toned specimen exhibits intermingled cobalt blue highlights on iridescent reddish-apricot surfaces. A sharply struck, reflective Gem from a Proof mintage of 1,000 coins. Survivors are scarcer than that figure might imply, however, since the onset of the Civil War resulted in many ("seemingly more than half of the production," per Q. David Bowers, 2016) failing to sell and eventually being released into circulation. PCGS Population: 8; 12 finer in this category (Proof-67 finest). PCGS# 4444. NGC ID: 235W.
