Description du lot
1722 Rosa Americana Halfpenny. Martin 2-B, W-1218. URS-8. D: G: REX / ROSA AMERI: UTILE DULCI. MS-63 (PCGS). A sharp and lustrous specimen with deep olive gold surfaces that are harder than typically encountered; this variety is often quite granular in appearance. All of the design elements are present and accounted for, including the king's hair and the reverse rosette. Breen-133, "Second Prototype" with each U in the reverse legend corrected from a V punch. According to Breen, "dangerous counterfeits" of the variety are sometimes encountered. The finest graded by PCGS. If you mean to have a nice Rosa Americana halfpenny, we suggest you follow through in your bidding when this specimen crosses the auction block, especially if "finest graded" coins are your reason for collecting.
