The mintage of 40,000 quarters was the lowest in the entire Barber quarter series. News of the low mintage spread quickly and while VERY RARE, there are some Gem Mint State survivors. This GEM has a superior, glowing mint luster that beams all over on both sides, underlying the sparkling golden tone. Accents of icy blue and richer peach iridescent toning bursts from the fields and on the devices. Sharply struck and frosty devices are quite impressive and stand out. There are only a couple of minor ticks that can be found with the aid of a strong glass and none are distracting to the naked eye. The eye appeal is superlative in every way! PCGS 17, NGC 4, CAC 2. There has not been an example sold in five years, not since this GEM sold for $28,200 in the 2014 FUN auction. The current PCGS value is $32,500 and this coin is worthy of a strong bid indeed. There has not been a PCGS/CAC MS66 sold in over eight years, making this an excellent choice for a GEM set. Even the pickiest of collectors will love this coin! Cert. Number 25373853 PCGS # 5666
