Description du lot
THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION The 27-S is a semi-KEY date in all grades and in Mint State it is considered a KEY to the series; it is also the most difficult date to find with the FH designation, as this is the most famous of the poorly struck mint marked issues of the 1920s. This glossy lustrous CHOICE example has decent detail definition throughout, though there is the typical mushy strike in areas--that is just how this date comes. Struck from clashed dies the fields are close to GEM quality and the eye appeal is wonderful. PCGS 82, NGC 48. Recent APRs for PCGS MS64 examples without CAC approval have been selling in the $9,000-$13,200 range and the current PCGS Price Guide value is $16,500. We expect this coin will see considerable bidding from the specialist in the series looking to upgrade their set. Cert. Number 45674988 PCGS # 5764
